Three movements from the solo accordion suite Shapes will be obligatory pieces for the competitors in a certain age category at the International Accordion Competition Kingenthal in Germany. The movements that are eligible for the competition are I. “The Rhomb”, III. “Circles and Ellipses” and V. “Dots”.
The piece was performed by Luca Bello (Italy), Bela Brichzin (Germany), Hanyu Huang (China), Johannes Koivisto (Finland) and Jonas Vozbutas (Lithuania).
My suite Estampas del mar composed to poems by Federico García Lorca will be performed at the 100th anniversary concert of the women’s choir Filianna conducted by Sabrina Ljungberg at the Sibelius Hall in Lahti. More info (in Finnish) can be found here and tickets can be found here.
Akademiska sångföreningen (The Academic Male Voice Choir of Helsinki) led by Elisa Huovinen will sing my piece Sailing to Windward (composed to a text by Michael Binnie) at their 185th Anniversary Concert at Helsinki Music Centre. Tickets can be found here.
After having moved this concert twice due to restrictions, finally Tampere Raw will perform my first Piano Quintet Minna – Pictures from the Life of Minna Canth at Stockholm Concert Hall. More information about the concert can be found here.
My string orchestra piece Infirmus, a piece dedicated to everyone suffering from a chronic illness, will be performed by the joined forces of Vaasa City Orchestra and Seinäjoki City Orchestra conducted by Henri Sigfridsson. More info about the season can be found here and tickets here.

The new suite Renewables for solo accordion consists of eight movements, which are all obligatory pieces in the 50th anniversary accordion competition Minä soitan harmonikkaa (“I play accordion”) organised by The Finnish Association for Accordion Teachers. The piece was commissioned by The Finnish Association for Accordion Teachers for the 50th anniversary year of the competition.
The competition has three age categories, C for musicians who are 10-11 year old, B for 12-13 year old players and A for 14-16 year old accordionists. Renewables consists of 8 pieces of which the first three are suitable for category C, pieces 4-6 are suitable for category B and the last two pieces are for category A. Renewables is also composed so that it can be performed as a suite with eight movements. The different movements will be premiered seperately by a total of 58 participants at the MSH 50th Accordion Competition. Find the competition program here.

Ylioppilaskunnan laulajat (The YL Male Choir) conducted by Pasi Hyökki have commissioned a new piece The Holocene Extinction that will get it’s world premiere at the choir’s 140th Anniversary Concert on Easter Saturday at Helsinki Music Centre. There will be a concert pre-talk (in Finnish) at 5 PM in the cafeteria of the Music Centre.More information in Finnish can be found here and tickets can be found here.
My piano solo piece Epitaph will be performed by Ville Hautakangas at the home concert of Kaisankallio in Kankaanpää. More info coming soon!
