Linda Suolahti‘s debut album “Unrecorded.” was released on the 23rd of November 2023, so a warm welcome to the official release concert 24.02.2024! It includes unrecorded music by Finnish composers Helvi Leiviskä, Ann-Elise Hannikainen and me. Leiviskä and Hannikainen were recorded by Linda and pianist Tiina Karakorpi. Linda and Mari Viluksela have together recorded my piece Celestial Beings. The record can be purchased through Linda’s website here and tickets can be purchaised from 1.1.2024
The album will be released on streaming platforms later in the year 2024.
Looking forward to the world premiere of my new 22-minute accordion concerto Permafrost, commissioned and performed at the Kokkola Winter Accordion Festival. The world premiere will be performed in Kokkola by Sonja Vertainen and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jan Söderblom and including video art by Irene Suosalo. The Winter Accordion Festival‘s Seminar is themed “Can music be an ambassador of equality?”. I will be discussing this topic in Finnish alongside Doctor Nuppu Koivisto, Adjunct Professor in Musicology Juha Torvinen and the discussion will be moderated by journalist Anni Saari. Free entry. My string orchestra piece Fretus, dedicated to the oceans of the world, will be performed by Hyvinkää Orchestra conducted by their chief conductor Tuomas Pirilä at Hyvinkää City Hall. The Hyvinkää Orchestra offers an intriguing selection of contemporary music constructed around a nature theme. The concert collaborates with the Hyvinkää Natural Heritage Foundation, and 10% of the concert’s ticket revenue will be donated to the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation. My string trio Nisus will be performed by Matilda Kaul, Hanna Hohti and Petja Kainulainen at series Kino Soi! in the old cinema of Tapiola, Espoo. More info can be found here.
