Vickan & Väinö is a bilingual children’s opera that tells the story of the construction of Finland’s new capital, Helsinki, by the architect Engel and two mice who save Engel’s plans. It is an opera about Finland’s multicultural history and friendship without a common language. The third opera by hugely popular contemporary composer Cecilia Damström is based on the script by Marina Motaleff-Kelly. The opera is aimed at 4–10-year-olds. (In Finnish and Swedish.)
