My second Piano Quintet Aino – Emotions from the life of Aino Sibelius will be performed for the first time in Gothenburg. The piece will be performed at a lunch concert by Reetta Hakala on flute, Francesca Salvestri on clarinet, Lotta Määttä on violin, Johanna Tärnroth on cello and Joel Slott on piano. The concert is in Sjöströmsalen at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. Free entry.
Hilma Salo will perform my piece Epitaph as part of her program in the first round of the national Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition in Oulu. Exact
Linda Suolahti and Mari Viluksela will perform my piece Celestial Beings at this years Musequal Festival.
My first Piano Quintet Minna will be performed in Helsinki in the Hall of G18 (on Yrjönkatu 18). It will be performed by Tiina Karakorpi piano, Linda Suolahti and Annemarie Åström on violin, Mari Viluksela on viola and Eeva Rysä on cello. The concert is a “pre-starter” for the Musequal festival (Kokonainen festivaali) and is a co-operation between Wegelius Chamber Orchestra, PuKama and Musequal.
The male choir Brahe Djäknar conducted by Ulf Långbacka performes my piece Sailing to Windward to a poem by Michael Binnie at their 85th anniversary concert in Turku Concert Hall.
The Academic Male Voice Choir of Helsinki proudly presents: Kraft – a concert about renewable energy.
Three brand new pieces by Cecilia Damström, Andrea Eklund and Alex Freeman, commissioned and premiered by the choir and conducted by Elisa Huovinen. The concert will take place at 10 PM at Kattilahalli in Suvilahti, Helsinki. Suvilahti cultural centre is a former power plant that comprises nine buildings, two gasometers and yard space. The address is Sörnäisten rantatie 22.

The fantastic flutist Malla Vivolin will perform my piece Der Wald for flute and electronics at this years Gala Concert of the Tampere Flute Fest.
Join us for an evening of icy sonic wonder – an eclectic visual and auditive program dedicated to environmental awareness in a fast changing modern world. The program will feature top female Finnish flutists Annaleena Jämsä, Malla Vivolin, Jenny Villanen, and Johanna Kärkkäinen, pianist Hanna-Leena Savolainen, kantelist Eva Alkula, and exciting works by composers Cecilia Damström, Kai Nieminen, Jouni Kaipainen, Väinö Hannikainen and many more.
JÄÄ//ICE combines the world of classical music, with the experimental. A contrasting and connecting world of sounds and visions, the audience will experience a multitude of textures created by Dutch composer and artist Samuel Van Dijk, AND YOU, our audience. As part of TFF’s exciting collaboration with the Tampere University, and with thanks to software developers Eva Wallinvirta, Henri Turunen, Roshan Bist, Samuel Gonçalves, Eliana Junker, Joona Mäkinen, and Samu Salko from the university, our audience will be able to interact and be part of the creation process, moulding the sound and visual textures, that will be ultimately presented at the gala concert. This concert will raise funds in support of young Ukrainian artists affected by the war.
EDIT: Due to sudden illness my piece “Die Berge” was not able to be performed at this event. The event took place with an altered program.
My first string quartet Via Crucis will be performed by the Felis Quartet at the wonderful modern wooden church of Kuokkala in Jyväskylä, alongside Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ. Tickets at the door 10/5€.
